WHAT IS KOMBUCHA?
Kombucha is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). Kombucha contains a number of vitamins, particularly B vitamins.
WHAT DOES UNDERGROUND KOMBUCHA TASTE LIKE?
UnderGround Kombucha is precisely measure to ensure delicious taste while still remaining low to zero in sugar content.
DO KOMBUCHA CULTURES CONTAIN GLUTEN, DAIRY OR ANIMAL BY PRODUCTS?
No, our kombucha cultures only contain organic tea, organic sugar, filtered water and natural flavours. Our new zero sugar kombucha is sweetened with stevia leaf and keto friendly monk fruit or erythritol. We are gluten friendly, dairy free and vegan.
IS UNDERGROUND KOMBUCHA GLUTEN FREE?
It sure is, so please tell all your gluten-averse friends.
I FOUND A WEIRD RESIDUE IN MY BUCHA…
The slimy sediment is supposed to be there. The sediment in a can of UnderGround kombucha is akin to “the mother” in raw apple cider vinegar, a culture of beneficial bacteria involved in the creation and fermentation of vinegar. In both raw ACV and kombucha, a layer of gunk is an indication that the product is indeed raw and contains live, good-for-you bacteria. In other words, it’s something that hasn’t been processed, pasteurized, or ‘un-natured’ in any way.
HEY, ISN'T THERE ALCOHOL IN KOMBUCHA?
All kombucha contains trace amounts of alcohol due to natural fermentation, but ours is brewed to stay WAY under 0.5% ABV, making it non-alcoholic but still a perfect party brew.
IS BUCHA SAFE FOR KIDS?
Yep! Many parents give their kids kombucha as a healthier alternative to soda. If you’re unsure, start with small amounts and check with your doctor.
DOES KOMBUCHA HAVE CAFFEINE?
Since kombucha is brewed with tea, it naturally contains some caffeine. However, during fermentation, much of the caffeine is consumed by the culture. With our unique blending methods, the final caffeine content in Underground Kombucha is lower than a typical decaf coffee—just a few milligrams per serving. So you get a gentle lift without the jitters!
LET'S DIVE DEEP INTO THE POTENTIAL HEALTH BENEFITS
1. GUT HEALTH & DIGESTION
Probiotics: Kombucha is rich in beneficial bacteria and yeasts that support a healthy gut microbiome. A well-balanced gut can aid digestion, improve nutrient absorption, and even boost immunity.
Organic Acids: Acetic, gluconic, and lactic acids in kombucha help maintain a balanced gut environment by preventing the overgrowth of harmful bacteria.
Digestive Enzymes: These enzymes can assist in breaking down food, reducing bloating, and supporting overall digestive health.
How it helps: If you struggle with bloating, irregular digestion, or mild stomach discomfort, kombucha may help promote gut balance.
2. Immune System Boost
A Healthy Gut = A Stronger Immune System: Since about 70% of your immune system resides in your gut, a happy microbiome means better defense against illness.
Antioxidants & Polyphenols: Kombucha (especially when made from green or black tea) contains powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress.
Glucuronic Acid: This organic acid helps detoxify the liver, supporting the body’s natural ability to flush out toxins.
How it helps: Drinking kombucha regularly may help keep your immune system in top shape, making you less prone to getting sick.
3. Energy & Metabolism
B Vitamins: The fermentation process creates B vitamins (like B12, B6, and folate), which play a crucial role in energy production.
Iron Boost: Kombucha can help the body better absorb iron from tea, which can improve oxygen circulation and reduce fatigue.
How it helps: If you need a natural energy lift without the jitters, kombucha is a great alternative to coffee or sugary sodas.
4. Detoxification & Liver Support
Glucuronic Acid & Detoxification: This acid binds to toxins in the liver and helps flush them out, supporting overall detox processes.
Liver Protection: Some studies suggest kombucha may help prevent liver damage from oxidative stress and toxins.
How it helps: If you’re looking to support your liver naturally (especially after indulging in processed foods or alcohol), kombucha may help.
5. Joint & Skin Health
Glucosamines & Hyaluronic Acid: Kombucha contains glucosamines, which help boost hyaluronic acid production—important for lubricating joints and keeping skin hydrated.
Collagen Protection: By reducing oxidative stress, kombucha may help slow down collagen breakdown, keeping your skin looking youthful.
How it helps: Regular kombucha consumption may promote better joint mobility and improve skin elasticity over time.
6. Mood & Mental Health
Gut-Brain Connection: The gut microbiome plays a significant role in mental health, influencing serotonin levels (the “feel-good” hormone).
Less Stress, More Balance: Balanced gut bacteria may help reduce anxiety, stress, and even symptoms of mild depression.
How it helps: If you’re looking for a natural way to support mood balance and mental clarity, kombucha may be an easy (and delicious) addition to your routine.
7. Weight Management & Blood Sugar Balance
Low-Calorie & Naturally Sweetened: Unlike soda or juice, kombucha is naturally fermented, so it’s lower in sugar while still tasting great.
Metabolism Support: Some research suggests kombucha may help improve metabolism and assist in weight regulation.
Regulating Blood Sugar: The acetic acid in kombucha (similar to apple cider vinegar) can help reduce blood sugar spikes after meals.
How it helps: If you’re looking for a refreshing, low-calorie drink that won’t mess with your blood sugar, kombucha is a solid choice.
Final Thoughts
Kombucha is more than just a trend—it’s a time-tested functional beverage that can support gut health, immunity, energy, and more. Whether you’re drinking it for digestion, energy, or just because it tastes amazing, it’s a great way to nourish your body naturally.
💡 Pro Tip: Drinking kombucha consistently (rather than just once in a while) will give you the best benefits over time.
